Advantages of Using Laser Welding Machines for Stainless Steel
In daily life, stainless steel materials are ubiquitous—pots, pans, bowls, chopsticks, and more. Traditional welding methods for stainless steel products, such as TIG welding and resistance welding, often suffer from defects like cracks and heat-affected zones. Next, Tuoer Laser will introduce the advantages of using stainless steel laser welding machines.
Stainless steel laser welding machines utilize high-energy pulsed lasers to join materials. A laser power supply triggers pulsed discharges in a xenon lamp, generating light waves of specific frequency and pulse width. These waves are concentrated by a focusing cavity and radiated onto an Nd³⁺:YAG crystal. The crystal emits pulsed laser light at 1064nm after resonant oscillation. The beam then undergoes beam expansion, reflection, and refocusing before performing the weld.
Laser welding offers numerous advantages for stainless steel: 1. High speed, deep penetration, and minimal deformation. 2. Capable of welding at room temperature or under specialized conditions with simple equipment setup. For instance, laser beams remain stable through electromagnetic fields and can weld in vacuum, air, or specific gas environments, even through glass or other transparent materials. 3. Capable of welding refractory materials like titanium and achieving excellent results with dissimilar materials. 4. High power density upon focusing enables a depth-to-width ratio of 5:1 for high-power device welding, extendable to 10:1. 5. Capable of micro-welding. The focused laser beam produces a very small spot size with precise positioning, making it suitable for assembling micro and small components in high-volume automated production. 6. Enables welding of hard-to-reach areas through non-contact remote welding, offering significant flexibility. Particularly in recent years, the adoption of fiber-optic transmission technology in YAG laser processing has greatly expanded the promotion and application of laser welding. 7. Laser beams can be easily split temporally and spatially, enabling simultaneous multi-beam processing and multi-station operations, which provides conditions for more precise welding.
