Laser Welder Application

Application of Laser Welding in Automotive Component Welding Systems

Laser welding of automotive gears represents a growing trend. Major global automakers are now competing to adopt laser welding for gears, replacing processes such as resistance welding, induction welding, and electron beam welding to enhance product competitiveness in international markets. Gear welding reduces component count while improving gear quality and lowering manufacturing costs. Compared to traditional welding processes, laser welding of gears does not require a vacuum environment, thereby preventing welding deformation. Post-weld finishing is unnecessary. Laser welding achieves a weld depth-to-width ratio as high as 10:1, with weld zones exhibiting mechanical properties comparable to or superior to the base material. This ensures gears can transmit substantial torque.

The laser welding machines developed and manufactured by Top Optics Laser fully meet the special sealing requirements for airbag butt joints, featuring dual-station fully automated processing. This highly automated welding method reduces airbag processing time and steps, significantly lowering production costs. Technical Features: - Deep weld penetration (2–3 mm) - High weld strength - Minimal heat-affected zone deformation - High automation, easy control, and fast speed - High welding precision with stable repeatability and high yield - Non-contact processing eliminating auxiliary tools - No filler material required, producing contaminant-free welds.
